Discover How Your Body Works for You

The sixth pillar of HypnoBirthing is what our in-person classes are all about. Today I’ll discuss Education, the biggest component of the program. I’ll also talk about how the knowledge we provide you and your birth companion can positively change your birthing experience.

The birthing body is so AMAZING. And the more you learn, the more, too, you will be amazed.

Nature has choreographed the most perfect dance.
Birth has been finely tuned down to the smallest detail between mother and baby.

Women are powerful. More women need to understand the power they hold. For example, think for a moment about your uterus and your baby’s placenta – truly life giving organs. Read on for some AMAZING facts.

Your amazing uterus has 3 layers of muscles. These layers are designed to work in harmony together and to work together comfortably. In class we discuss this synergistic design in detail so you have confidence in your body's ability to labor and birth!

You and your baby secrete a complex and delicately balanced concoction of hormones from the beginning of conception, throughout pregnancy, during birth, and even after with bonding and breastfeeding. These hormones alter the consistency of your cervix, they relax your ligaments and your pelvis, and even make sure your baby’s joints are flexible and are ready for its journey. They kick labor off, cause the uterus to surge in a powerful wave like fashion, and continue to have an amazing effect on you and your baby after the birth.

And your baby is not just standing by in the process. The baby uses its inborn reflexes to push gently with its feet during birth and rotate as he/she moves through the birth path. Your baby’s skull is made up of bony plates connected by flexible and protecting connective tissue that allows the plates to shift just the way the need to as your baby is born. It is pretty rare that a mother will grow a baby whose head is too big, in fact, it is more likely that fear and tension and lack of free movement contribute to a baby who is ‘stuck’.

Ever heard of the NER or Natural Expulsive Reflex?

You may or may not have heard of it, but it’s unmistakable when you feel it during birth. The natural expulsive reflex is what gives you the feeling of the ‘urge to push’… except it’s actually your body pushing with no action needed on your part! This process can play out on its own, with you using a special breathing technique we teach you in our HypnoBirthing® classes.

Without the forced, coached pushing most mothers are frequently told to utilize, the blood flow to the uterus, cervix and baby is increased, the likelihood of fetal distress is decreased, and the sensation can even be more comfortable for you.

Do you have worries about tearing? Never fear, perineal massage may reduce the likelihood of tearing, especially because with this practice you become acquainted with the feeling of the perineum stretching, knowing how supple and elastic it is and how much it can stretch.

We would love to share our free Perineal Massage Guide with you so you can feel amazingly confident bringing your baby to crowning without fear. Click Here to Download
